Job summary

Patriot Urgent Care in Maryland is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our urgent care clinics. You will be the liaison between patients and medical providers, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow while maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires caring, courteous, and detail-oriented individuals with strong interpersonal skills who can perform basic medical procedures and support our clinical team. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited professional clinical program.
• Current CMA certification preferred or willing to obtain; license required for LPN, EMT or RT.
• Ability to work weekday and/or weekend shifts as needed; 12-hour shifts as determined by location.
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of electronic medical records.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Two years of clinical experience preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification preferred.
• Occupational Health, X-Ray, and/or IV experience preferred.
• Ability to escort or transport a patient by wheelchair when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and ensure smooth patient flow.
• Perform clinical intake including medical history, current medications, chief complaint; obtain vital signs and EMR data.
• Explain treatment procedures and prepare patient and exam room for examination.
• Position instruments and hand to the provider as directed.
• Clean instruments and equipment after use.
• Administer medications, dress wounds, draw blood, and assist provider with procedures.
• Perform diagnostic tests including eye exams, ECG, audiogram, peak flow, and other basic nursing functions.
• Perform CLIA-waived lab tests, draw blood, and prepare specimens for send-out.
• Perform urine drug screens with chain of custody; prep for shipment.
• Perform dosage calculations for administering medications.
• Where applicable, perform basic x-rays or assist radiology with x-ray setup.
• Complete medical charting including services rendered, results, and supplies used.
• Perform patient callbacks, referrals, testing, and follow-up scheduling.
• Monitor disposable inventory, supplies, and pharmaceuticals.
• Perform quality checks on medical equipment.
• Assist in onboarding/training of new staff.
• Assist front desk with patient registration and other clerical duties.
• Perform additional duties as necessary.
