The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at The City University of New York invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track associate professorship in urban studies, starting Fall 2027. We seek an expert on public housing in urban environments with research and teaching spanning global, transregional, and cross-cultural contexts.

The successful candidate will teach in the BA in Urban Studies and the Built Environment, offering Introduction to Urban Studies, Techniques of Urban

Qualifications

Ph.D. urban studies, urban geography, architectural history or a related field.
Ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement.
Ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Responsibilities

Teach in the BA in Urban Studies and the Built Environment program, offering courses such as Introduction to Urban Studies, Techniques of Urban Communication, and Social Justice and the Built Environment.
Advise majors in a required two-semester capstone project.
Possibly teach a built environment course on New York City for first-year students in SSA's B.Arch. program.
participate in committee and department assignments including administrative and supervisory functions.
