Job summary

City of Avondale, AZ is seeking a Planner to assist with long-range planning, subdivision review, zoning, and site plan evaluations. You will serve as project manager for land use applications and coordinate with property owners, attorneys, developers, and other staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field.
• Two years of municipal experience is required.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months.

Responsibilities

• Researches, reviews, and interprets development regulations and prepares background reports on land use, zoning, and related issues.
• Project manager for land use applications including conditional uses, rezonings, annexations, variances, and design waivers.
• Reviews applications for licenses, building permits, and signs to ensure zoning compliance.
• Provides guidance to the public on ordinance requirements and planning procedures; conducts public counter coverage.
• Coordinates GIS maps updates and supports public hearings with findings and recommendations.
