Job summary

Toole Design Group seeks a Planning Intern in Columbus, OH to help design streets and public spaces that connect people. You will be embedded in project teams, contributing to mobility networks and public realm work across the country.

During 8–12 weeks, you’ll engage in all design phases, run graphics, and support stakeholder outreach and meetings. Open to undergrads, grads, or recent grads in related fields with a passion for active transportation.

Qualifications

• Open to undergrads (3rd year or higher), grad students, and recent graduates in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Civil Engineering, or related programs.
• Ability to quickly pick up new concepts, skills, and programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
• Experience in graphic design, layout, and production, InDesign/Adobe Creative Suite.
• Passion for active transportation.

Responsibilities

• Work in project teams on public realm and active transportation projects from day one.
• Involve in all design phases from stakeholder outreach to construction documents and administration.
• Perform analysis and create 2D/3D graphics and illustrative materials.
• Prepare graphics for intersections, analyze pedestrian survey data, and support public meetings.
• Contribute to studies like multimodal corridors, Safe Routes to School, and Vision Zero.
