Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking an enthusiastic Middle School Math teacher to join our Newark-based program. You will teach foundational math, using our CCSS-based curriculum and culturally responsive activities, while supporting students to become self-guided learners.

You’ll collaborate with grade-level teams, analyze student data weekly with your principal/coach, and foster a caring school culture with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external partners in students’ best interests.
• Self-directed learner who seeks feedback to improve outcomes.
• Demonstrated interest in impacting urban K-12 students; 1–2 years preferred.
• Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Teach middle school math using CCSS-based curriculum and culturally responsive activities.
• Meet weekly with leadership to analyze trends in student work and tailor instruction.
• Build positive relationships with students and families to support learning needs.
• Participate in weekly meetings to cultivate community and instructional strategies.
