Job summary

A Safe Haven Landscaping is seeking a Horticulturist to oversee day-to-day operations of the Chicago Department of Transportation's Landscaped Medians, including Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. You will ensure service quality, manage contract costs, and supervise mowing, planting, watering and tree care.

This role requires a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Horticulture and at least five years of related experience, plus a pesticide license, ISA certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Horticulture or related field from a two-year or four-year college; five years of related experience.
• State Pesticide Applicator's license obtained within 90 days of employment.
• International Society of Arboriculture Certification within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Computer skills: Internet, Excel, Word, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prepares weekly Horticulturist reports for clients.
• Prepares monthly Arborist reports.
• Inspects, analyzes, and recommends solutions to issues on CDOT medians.
• Manages plant health for all planting bed medians; fertilization, watering, and integrated pest management.
• Oversees all chemical applications and spray logs.
• Coordinates material and supply procurement for CDOT Medians.
