Job summary

City of Gainesville seeks a professional to develop, implement, and maintain the Urban Forestry Program. This single position reports to a supervisor and works under general supervision.

Key duties include coordinating the City Street Tree Program, planning work, supervising crews, inspecting trees for permit compliance, managing the Tree Mitigation Fund, and updating the Urban Forest Management Plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Botany, or related field and 3 years of urban forestry and horticulture experience with supervisory duties.
• Valid Florida Driver License within 30 days of start date.
• Certified Arborist by ISA.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and administers the City Street Tree Program.
• Plans work and assigns crews and equipment for planting and maintaining City trees on public property.
• Inspects trees for removal permits and replanting requirements.
• Oversees budget, records and reports for the program.
• Provides public information on tree care and conducts related outreach.
