Job summary
The City of Charlotte is seeking an Associate Urban Forester in the Planning, Design & Development Department to help implement residential tree canopy regulations citywide. You will review plans, inspect sites, issue notices, and participate in hearings while advancing canopy policy and customer service standards.
Qualifications include an associates degree in a related field and at least one year of relevant experience, with GIS and MS Office proficiency and strong communication skills in
Qualifications
- Associates degree in urban forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, forestry, landscape architecture or related field.
- One year related work experience or combination of education and experience with knowledge of tree species and their biology.
Responsibilities
- Review residential plans for tree planting, preservation and protection.
- Conduct site inspections for code compliance and best practices.
- Provide notifications of ordinance requirements and permits.
- Issue citations and attend hearings as needed.
- Support tree canopy policy development and implementation.
- Deliver courteous, responsive customer service per Development Center standards.
