Job summary

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Phoenix is seeking an Urban Farm Coordinator to manage the farm's food production and meet production standards set by Urban Farm management.

This role also oversees daily operations, delegates tasks to volunteers, plans crop implantation, pest management, and produce processing. Responsibilities include IPM implementation, volunteer retention, educating the community on sustainable practices, and collaborating with farm staff and contractors to achieve

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays when needed.
  • 1+ years’ experience in agriculture-based industry.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work safely outside in various weather conditions.

Job Summary

The Farm Program Coordinator will manage the food production of the farm and meet all production standards and goals set by farm management. The Program Coordinator will also oversee and organize all the daily operations including delegating farm tasks amongst volunteer groups, planning crop implantation, pest management and produce processing standards, as set by Urban Farm management. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for the following:

  • Implement Integrated Pest Management strategies as formulated by management.
    • Meeting volunteer retention goals by sustaining and encouraging a positive environment.
    • Educating volunteers and community members on sustainable agricultural practices and SVdP (St Vincent De Paul) Urban farm processes
    • Pinpointing areas of improvements and working with farm management to implement the improvements.
    • Meet production goals set by farm team.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively between farm staff, internal departments, and contractors.
    • Crop planning, including rotations, consistent with sustainable agricultural practices.
    • Running our weekly Mercado during Family Evening Meal
    • Other duties as assigned by Urban Farm management.
    • Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated *

Hiring Requirements Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to work safely outside in various weather conditions, including the extreme summer months.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity with excel and creating spreadsheets.
  • Works well with others

  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Certification in agriculture based or sustainability-based education.
