Job summary

Orange County Government is seeking Planner I–III (Urban Design) to support the Community Planning & Placemaking Section within the Planning Division. The role involves assisting with major work elements, reviewing changes to the Comprehensive Plan and Code, and coordinating stakeholder meetings to support targeted growth and redevelopment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Urban Design, Planning, Architecture, or related field or Bachelor’s with 1 year planning experience.
• Planner II requires Master’s in Urban Design, Planning or Architecture with 2 years’ experience or Bachelor’s with 4 years in planning.
• Planner III requires Master’s in Urban Design/Planning/Architecture with 4 years progressive planning experience or Bachelor’s with 6 years progressive planning experience.
• Strong writing, presentation, meeting facilitation, computer and analytical skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist other planners with work products for major elements.
• Review Comprehensive Plan and Code changes; facilitate interdepartmental meetings.
• Participate in meetings with stakeholders, HOAs, developers, and the public.
• Prepare documents and materials for public meetings (maps, diagrams, handouts, agendas, PowerPoint).
• Provide excellent customer service to citizens and development community on land use matters.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
