Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark seeks an NJSLA Math Instructor for middle and high school students as part of the Talent Search program. This part-time role involves delivering an integrated NJSLA prep course and teaching test strategies to a diverse student body.

You will prepare course outlines, assist with tutoring planning and evaluation, and complete required paperwork, while attending trainings and meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of teaching experience at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for students enrolled in the Educational Talent Search Program, undergraduate or graduate degree in designated discipline.
  • Experience working with minority or disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
  • Education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Transport students from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring proper supervision and safety of students.

  • Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props and other learning aids.

Salary Information

In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is $40.00-$50.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items.
