Job summary

Merck is seeking an Upstream Processing Technician for its Animal Health facility in Elkhorn, NE. You will contribute to manufacturing vaccines and biologics using cell culture, filling, and packaging technologies. The role requires aseptic gowning and adherence to SOPs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality standards, performing sterile operations, and leading Tier 1 process teams. Shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM with potential overtime.

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality product by knowing and maintaining company and Departmental standards and procedures.
• Perform sterile operations according to Standard Production Processes (SPPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Documentation must be concurrent, legible, and consistent.
• Prepare cell and viral cultures in flasks and roller bottles in large quantities (1000+ cultures/day).
• Sanitization or sterilization of designated areas and equipment, requiring work with cleaners and attention to small details.
• Troubleshoot and perform adjustments of equipment as required.
• Perform SAP transactions (goods issuing/goods receipt), cycle count actives.
• Ensure all assigned equipment and components are staged for operation.
• Provide Leadership for Tier 1 process
• Maintain documentation and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain area including 5S housekeeping management
• Sterile processes performed in small labs with technicians
• Wear full aseptic gown including hood, suite, boots, gloves, mask, goggles; respirator may reduce visibility
• Provide leadership to area Technicians and inform area Lead and Manager as needed
• Daily review and audit of area batch records and process documentation
