Job summary

Eurofins Group in Malvern, PA seeks an Upstream Scientist (Temporary) to design, develop, and scale upstream bioprocesses for research, clinical, and commercial manufacturing efforts.

The role focuses on cell culture, fermentation, media development, and bioreactor operations, with cross-functional teamwork across Manufacturing, Analytical Sciences, Quality, and Process Engineering. Temporary position, Tue-Sat, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with commutable distance to Malvern.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific discipline.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize, and scale upstream bioprocesses (cell culture, bioreactors) to support research, clinical, and commercial manufacturing objectives.
• Plan and execute process development studies to improve cell growth, productivity, product quality, and process robustness.
• Analyze experimental data and identify critical process parameters for scale-up and tech transfer.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Analytical Sciences, Quality, and Process Engineering to advance development programs.
• Author and review study protocols, technical reports, process descriptions, regulatory documentation, and SOPs.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions for performance improvements.
• Foster a collaborative, engaged, and team-oriented work environment.
