Job summary

Toshiba International Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 2+ years in power electronics to join our sales support team.

You will review customer specifications, prepare technical quotations, and present product features while coordinating with Design Engineering and Sales. Travel up to 25–50% is expected, and familiarity with UL, IEEE, NEMA standards is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering experience preferred in power electronics or UPS systems.
• Working knowledge of three-phase AC power systems, UPS systems, batteries/energy storage, switchgear, and NEC/IEEE/NEMA standards.
• Experience reviewing customer specifications and one-line drawings for technical quotations.
• Strong technical communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple RFQs/projects and travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Assist and lead the sales department with product support including technical presentations and quotations.
• Review customer engineering specifications and prepare quotations under supervision.
• Develop and review product literature such as manuals and application notes; understand Toshiba product offerings.
• Tests assigned products in the laboratory environment for performance characteristics.
• Interface with Design Engineers to resolve technical problems and assist with new product specifications.
• Communicate with sales force and customers; train sales force and customers.
• Complete additional projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Comply with Toshiba policies and company objectives; maintain profitability through orders and quotes.
• This position may be responsible for sign off/review of quotes, according to Toshiba's policy.

Job Summary:

The engineer uses technical knowledge along with interpersonal skills to understand customer`s issues and propose solutions. Engineer may participate in all facets of the business cycle including: quoting, forecasting, preparing technical literature, presenting product features and benefits, solving technical and commercial issues etc.

Responsibilities:

• Assist and lead the sales department with product support including technical presentations, proper application of our products, review customer engineering specifications, preparation of quotations under the supervision, and obtaining answers to questions at all stages of negotiation, production, and after shipment activities. Possesses a general knowledge of the product offering, industry standards (i.e. UL, CE, NEMA, IEEE, etc.)
• Possesses a general knowledge of the application of Toshiba`s product offerings.
• Develops and reviews product literature such as manuals, brochures, application notes, success stories, white papers etc. Develop a general knowledge of other Toshiba complimentary products.
• Tests assigned products in the laboratory environment for their performance characteristics.
• Develop a general knowledge of our competitor s product offerings.
• Interface with Design Engineers to resolve technical problems as well as assist with new product specifications.
• Communicate with sales force and customers.
• Train sales force and customers with others or independently.
• Complete additional projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Comply with all Toshiba policies, procedures and link company objectives to assigned activities.
• Employee needs to be aware and maintain profitability through orders and quotes.
• This position may be responsible for sign off/review of quotes, according to Toshiba s policy.

Travel:

• 25% to 50%

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years of engineering experience preferred, with an ideal background of approximately 2-8 years in applications engineering, power electronics, UPS systems, or electrical power distribution.
• Working knowledge of three-phase AC power systems, UPS systems, batteries/energy storage, switchgear, and applicable industry standards (e.g., UL, IEEE, NEMA, NEC).
• Experience reviewing customer specifications and one-line drawings and preparing technical quotations/submittals.
• Strong technical communication and customer-facing skills; able to work effectively with Sales, Design Engineering, Project Management, and customers.
• Ability to manage multiple RFQs/projects concurrently and travel up to 25%.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
