Job summary

The Vanguard School and Services in Malvern, PA seeks a highly experienced Supervisor of Special Education - Upper School to lead and oversee special education programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and fostering student growth.

Responsibilities include developing programs, supervising staff, coordinating schedules and services, collaborating with districts, and maintaining professional development and budget oversight. Strong leadership and PA certifications required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
• Active Pennsylvania teaching certification and five years' teaching experience.
• PA Principal or Supervisor of Special Education certification required.
• Ability to plan, organize, and administer a school program with growth expectations.
• Strong understanding of the nature and needs of special needs children and young adults.
• Ability to recognize individuality and treat students with respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain special education programs consistent with student needs and laws.
• Provide leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs.
• Represent building administration on committees as assigned.
• Supervise, observe, evaluate, approve time off, and review staff work.
• Conduct staff meetings and collaborate with classroom teams to maintain effective relationships.
• Orient new staff to areas relating to students and building practices.
• Participate in enrollment processes for referred students.
• Implement and maintain school-wide positive behavior supports and safety.
• Develop master schedule, rosters, and staff assignments; group students appropriately.
• Communicate with districts and outside agencies regarding placements and transportation.
• Collaborate on professional development for staff.
• Assist in proposals, budgets, grants, and manage the fiscal budget.
