Job summary

St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Metairie, LA is seeking an enthusiastic Upper School Physics Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time faculty position may be discussed as part-time for an exceptional candidate.

The ideal candidate will teach physics with student-centered methods, foster inquiry and collaboration, integrate technology into daily instruction, and communicate progress with families and administrators while participating in the life of the school.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three+ years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of secondary science instruction and classroom management.
  • Experience with project-based or inquiry-based learning preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Upper School Physics using student-centered instructional practices.
  • Design lessons that challenge students and meet diverse learners' needs.
  • Foster an inquiry-based classroom encouraging problem-solving and scientific reasoning.
  • Integrate technology into daily instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with students, families, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Science Department and Upper School.
  • Serve as a student advisor or moderator for at least one student organization.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and student supervision duties.

St. Martin’s Episcopal School is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Upper School Physics Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time faculty position; however, we are open to discussing a part-time schedule for an exceptional candidate.

We are looking for an educator who is passionate about teaching physics, building meaningful relationships with students, and creating a classroom environment where curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration thrive.

What You’ll Do
  • Teach Upper School Physics using engaging, student-centered instructional practices.
  • Design lessons that challenge students while meeting the needs of diverse learners.
  • Foster an inquiry-based classroom that encourages problem-solving, scientific reasoning, and independent thinking.
  • Integrate technology effectively into daily instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with students, families, and school administrators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Science Department and Upper School faculty.
  • Serve as a student advisor or moderator for at least one student organization.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school, including faculty meetings, professional development, school events, athletic and performing arts activities, and occasional student supervision duties.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
