Upper School Mathematics Teacher, Full time, 10 month, exempt
Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day school serving students from age three through 12th grade. The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Summary: The Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks candidates for one full-time, permanent position in our Mathematics Departments. We seek a dynamic, creative, and multifaceted professional for a full-time Math teacher position. The Math department develops confident problem-solvers who are fluent, flexible thinkers with an appreciation for the beauty and challenge of the subject. We seek an individual who is professional, and able to deliver high-quality, student-engaging instruction.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in mathematics education. Candidates are preferred to have three years of teaching experience at the high school level, but a teacher with less than three years and an exemplary first teaching experience should also consider applying. Experience in teaching Calculus is preferred. Candidates should possess basic computer literacy and experience using Google Suite for both administrative and instructional purposes, strong interpersonal, and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with Upper School students in a supportive college-preparatory environment. Knowledge of Quaker history and education is desirable, but not required.
Physical Requirements: The ability to navigate stairs as part of daily routines; mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement; bending and squatting as required to participate in activities; sitting and standing for long periods of time during the school day; lifting/carrying boxes up to 25 pounds; and the ability to maneuver as necessary within a regular classroom and office setting.
