Job Title: Upper School Math Teacher (One-Year Position)

What You Will Do
  • Teach a combination of Math classes to 9th-12th graders (4 classes total). Possible courses include Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus.
  • Advise a group of 8-10 students.
  • Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members.
  • Serve as an athletic coach for one or more seasons (preferred).
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and engage in growth opportunities.
Who We Are Looking For
  • A bachelor’s degree required; a master’s (or higher) preferred in Education, Math, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of high school teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to teach Computer Programming.
  • Passion for working with adolescents and desire to build relationships.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, curriculum, and relationships with members of the school community.
  • High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting.
  • Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department.
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively with students and families.
  • Commitment to building a reflective teaching practice and an innovative approach to classroom pedagogy.
  • Interest in engaging in ongoing dialogue with division leadership, department head, and colleagues about best teaching and learning practices.

Compensation

$73,380 - $86,263
