Job summary

HTU seeks a dedicated educational specialist to develop and implement student support plans for grades 9-12, collaborating with teachers, advisors, and families to ensure inclusive, data-informed instruction.

You will support diverse learners, interpret evaluations, and facilitate professional learning for faculty, contributing to a proactive, collaborative school culture and ongoing curricular review.

Qualifications

• Certification or graduate degree in special education or related field.
• Experience supporting diverse student learners.
• Experience teaching or supporting students aged 12-18.
• Strong behavior management and collaborative problem-solving.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Suite and iOS technology.

• Communicate and collaborate with families and outside specialists such as OT, SLPs, and psychologists.
• Provide resources and consultation regarding learning profiles and needs, including referrals for evaluations and support.
• Co-create and sustain a positive and inclusive learning environment for students and teachers.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborative curricular review.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

• Certification, graduate degree, or equivalent experience in special education, learning disabilities, or related field (preferred).
• Experience supporting teachers in understanding and supporting diverse student learners.
• Experience teaching or supporting students aged 12-18.
• Strong positive behavior management and collaborative problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated collaboration, self-reflection, cultural competence, flexibility, and curiosity.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Suite and iOS technology.
• Ability to move easily around building and classrooms, manage student groups safely, work collaboratively, handle frequent interruptions, organize tasks, and integrate academic technology.
