Job summary

The Joy School in Houston, TX seeks an Upper Elementary Math Teacher to guide two classes of fourth and fifth graders with learning differences toward academic and social potential.

You'll plan targeted instruction, collaborate with families and colleagues, and continuously pursue professional growth in a nurturing, joyful environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver targeted math and science instruction to two classes of up to eight fourth and/or fifth grade students with learning differences.
  • Communicate with colleagues and parents to provide an exceptional experience for all families.
  • Engage in the continuous pursuit of lifelong personal and professional development and reflection.
  • Observe, analyze, and pivot based on the needs of kids.
  • Record, synthesize, and report progress in both formal and informal ways.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required with teacher certification preferred
  • Three to five years of relative classroom experience required
  • Comfort in teaching a range of grade levels and content areas
  • Experience working with diverse learners
  • Knowledge of learning differences and the ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom based on those needs
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
  • Analytical approach to curriculum, instructional methods, and students
  • Flexibility as it relates to classroom management, pacing of curriculum, and student expectations
  • Compassion for students, parents, and colleagues
