Job summary
The Joy School is seeking a full-time elementary teacher to deliver targeted English language arts and social studies instruction to two classes of 4th/5th grade students with learning differences in Houston. You will collaborate with families and colleagues to create a joyful, inclusive learning environment.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree and classroom teaching experience; teacher certification is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; teacher certification preferred.
- Experience teaching in a relevant classroom setting is required.
- Knowledge of learning differences and ability to differentiate instruction.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver targeted English language arts and social studies instruction to two classes of six to eight students in 4th and/or 5th grade with learning differences.
- Communicate with colleagues and parents to provide an exceptional experience for all families.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and reflection.
- Observe, analyze, and pivot based on the needs of kids.
- Record, synthesize, and report progress in formal and informal ways.
- Provide support to kids in the form of social coaching.
- Have fun teaching and learning – must love kids.
