Job summary

Greenwich Country Day School is seeking an Upper Elementary Grade 4 Teacher to cover maternity leave from February 2027 to June 2027. This full-time position serves Grades 3–5 in a state-of-the-art campus and contributes to a community that values fieldwork, inquiry-based learning, and collaboration.

The successful candidate will manage a homeroom of 18-19 students, teach Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies, and partner with colleagues to support every child’s learning.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s Degree and coursework in Elementary Education.
• Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching with this age group.
• Inquiry- or project-based learning experience required.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Willingness to take on multiple roles within the school.

Responsibilities

• Manage Homeroom of 18–19 students.
• Teach Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies.
• Select materials to enhance curriculum.
• Oversight of development and progress of each child.
• Coordinate Developmental Learning recommendations.
• Assess students and report progress to parents.
• Collaborate with Grade Level and school community.
• Maintain classroom organization and decor.
• Mentor co-teacher to enhance classroom environment.
• Supervise playground and host lunch table daily.
