Job summary

DEMCO, Inc. in DeForest, Wisconsin is seeking a detail-oriented Upholstery Technician to join our manufacturing team and help build high-quality soft seating products for learning spaces.

No upholstery experience is required; we’ll train motivated individuals who are eager to learn. The role involves sewing fabrics, assembling frames, quality checks, and maintaining a safe, organized work area on a Monday–Friday first shift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to perform precise handwork in tight spaces.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.
  • Experience with fabric handling, sewing, or stitch techniques is helpful but not required; training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Sew fabric panels and upholstery patterns using industrial sewing equipment.
  • Cut and prepare fabric utilizing templates while minimizing material waste.
  • Wrap foam cores and cushion components with precision and consistency.
  • Assemble upholstered frames and components according to work order specifications.
  • Complete final finishing steps including stapling, trimming, wrapping, and tacking.
  • Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Identify and communicate quality concerns before products move to the next production stage.
  • Complete production documentation using both printed and digital work orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and follow all safety procedures.
  • Support other areas within the Value Center as production needs change.

From libraries to schools, our products help shape learning spaces across the country. We're looking for a detail-oriented Upholstery Technician to join our manufacturing team and help build high-quality soft seating products that inspire learning.

No upholstery experience? No problem. We're looking for people with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. If you enjoy building, creating, crafting, woodworking, sewing, or working with your hands, we'll teach you the technical skills needed to succeed.

In this role, you'll:
  • Sew fabric panels and upholstery patterns using industrial sewing equipment
  • Cut and prepare fabric utilizing templates while minimizing material waste
  • Wrap foam cores and cushion components with precision and consistency
  • Assemble upholstered frames and components according to work order specifications
  • Complete final finishing steps including stapling, trimming, wrapping, and tacking
