Job description

About the Role:

As a Service Technician I, you will perform a variety of high-level activities related to truck body and trailers. Activities include, but are not limited to, knowledge of truck body and van electrical and hydraulic issues, disassembling and reassembling all sections of the truck body, body mounts, upfitting, as well as diagnosing and repairing as needed.

Your Profile:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate mechanical skills/knowledge and welding experience preferred.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Experience in truck body or equipment manufacturing repair and troubleshooting/problem solving with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Wabash WPO guidelines, attain required certifications, work safely, and use proper PPE.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner.
  • Read work orders thoroughly, verify vehicle VINs, and ensure correct components and vehicles are worked on.
  • Perform mobile repair work at customer locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands:

  • Minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work under trucks or vans, often requiring kneeling.
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds frequently.
  • Work in environments requiring ladder, stairs, heights, and tight spaces.
  • Operate power and hand tools, work with compressed air, and operate forklifts, cranes, and scissor lifts safely, using PPE.

Working Conditions and Environment:

Exposure to noise, temperature variations, weather, welding processes, and chemicals, including solvents and paints, in a fast-paced environment with moving equipment and vehicles.
