Department Summary

Rec Sports provides programs and services to the university community, aiming to create a positive environment for recreation and fitness activities that enhance quality of life and community engagement. We employ approximately 250 students annually through various programs including intramural sports, informal recreation, group exercise, sport clubs, fitness, faculty/staff fitness, special events, outdoor pursuits, and aquatics. Position Overview

Personal Trainers at UNT Rec Sports are responsible for fitness testing, designing and implementing exercise programs, instructing clients, and tracking progress. Trainers are hired based on their expertise in fitness and are expected to maintain professional conduct in all interactions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Personal Trainer Certification from ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, or Cooper Institute, or other certifications upon approval.
  • Current CPR/FA certification or ability to attain within one month.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs.
  • Perform fitness assessments on staff before hire or during waiting period for certification.
  • Complete shadow sessions, mock assessments, and training sessions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

N/A

Preferred Qualifications
  • Student in a related field.
  • Personal training experience.
  • Experience with weight room equipment in campus recreation.
Required License/Certifications

Same as minimum qualifications.
