Department Summary


Rec Sports provides programs and services to the university community. The goal is to provide a positive environment to assist those individuals in exploring and learning about recreation and fitness activities, in order to enhance a better quality of life and to become active members of the community. We employ approximately 250 students each year through various programs including intramural sports, informal recreation, group exercise, sport clubs, fitness, faculty/staff fitness, special events, outdoor pursuits and aquatics. Position Overview


Personal Trainers hired by UNT Rec Sports are responsible for fitness testing, proper exercise program design, exercise program implementation and instruction, and tracking for all clients. Trainers are hired for their expertise and knowledge in fitness and are expected to exhibit professional conduct during any dealings with participants and other staff.


Minimum Qualifications


Current Personal Trainer Certification from ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, or Cooper Institute OR other certifications upon approval from assistant director.
Current CPR/FA certification or ability to attain within one month
Ability to lift 45 Lbs.
Perform a Fitness Assessment on a current Personal Trainer and Professional staff before hire and or during waiting period for P/F certification
Completion of shadow sessions, mock fitness assessments, and mock training sessions

Student in related field of experience
Personal training experience
Weight room equipment experience in campus recreation


Required License/Registration/Certifications


Current Personal Trainer Certification from ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, or Cooper Institute OR other certifications upon approval from assistant director.
