Job description

Your main responsibility as an unskilled cook on the vessel is to compose and prepare all food on board and to arrange provisions for a crew of 8-18 people. It is not required that you are educated as a cook, but it is essential that you are passionate about cooking and take pride in providing nutritionally correct food. On board you must also take part in exercises in First Aid, Fire and Rescue. To be able to participate in the exercises, you will receive courses in FRB Sailing, First Aid and Safety Awareness in connection to your start in ESVAGT.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the weekly menu is healthy. The food on board is important, so you must be creative in your cooking and be able to prepare varied food for the crew. Also, you must be aware of different religious and cultural backgrounds in your choice of food. We also expect that you can bake the bread you need for the meals.

Also, you have to be up to date on new knowledge about diet and food hygiene. Hygiene as well as handling and storage of raw ingredients must be in full compliance with applicable regulations, and food inspections must be carried out on an ongoing basis.

As there is a lot of administrative work, it is important that you are IT minded handling this kind of work.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:

  • Valid health certificate for seafarers
  • Passport
  • Clean drug-test (Zero tolerance for narcotics and alcohol on board)
  • You must be able to show a criminal record that is not older than 3 months

FURTHERMORE, WE EXPECT THAT YOU HAVE:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in written in both Danish and English
  • Ability to prepare healthy and varied food
  • Possibility for sailing four weeks in a row (2 persons share a position)
