RegularPRIMARY FUNCTION: The Unlicensed Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that aircraft and their equipment if functioning safely and efficiently. They service, repair and overhaul various aircraft components and systems including airframes, engines, electrical and hydraulic systems propellers, avionics equipment and aircraft instruments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Performs the full range of airframe and engine maintenance, repair, modifications, inspections and servicing of aircraft in accordance with approved methods, techniques and practices and certifies work accomplished
* Troubleshoots engines and systems and use the Federal Supply System; read and understand mechanical manuals and schematics; read and interpret all instruments; use special test equipment and tools; research the sections of Aviation Facilities Division.
* Performs full system checkout on all aircraft systems, perform mechanic test flight duties, perform complete servicing of aircraft
* Accompanies Research and Development aircraft on project flights away from worksite and perform maintenance on the aircraft at locations other than AIMS New Jersey
* The Unlicensed Aircraft Mechanic may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
* Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
* Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
* Ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to generate routine reports and correspondence
* Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members
* Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
* Ability to follow a process.
* Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
* Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
* Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
* Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
* High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
* Ability to multi-task
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Minimum of four (4) years total Aviation maintenance experience
* Must possess a Civilian or military Aviation Technical School Certification
* Minimum of three (3) year experience on H-60 or UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters
* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Government Security Clearance
* Must be familiar with the Army TAMMS Systems
* Must have a complete tool set with a shadowed tool box.
* Must be able to communicate using the English language.
Highly Desired:
* Other Helicopter / Airplane experience desired
* Knowledge of Aviation Ground Support Equipment
