(REMOTE)

NexGen is currently seeking a UNIX Systems Administrator to join our team working on a federal government project. This individual will have knowledge in providing system administration support across all supported systems and environments including servers, databases, network devices, and storage components. The supported environments include production, disaster recovery, test, and development. This individual will be required to work closely with members of the NexGen and client teams, including but not limited to, domain experts and developers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and execute project releases across various platforms by coordinating with technology and project teams to ensure the stability of resultant releases.
  2. Manage and request backups, deploy applications, monitor production, and perform quality checks to identify defects or inconsistencies with deliverables.
  3. Work closely with technology and project teams to adjust release plans and monitor application stability.
  4. Perform performance monitoring using various tools and scripted processes.
  5. Participate in meetings, workshops, and technical assessments.
  6. Provide technical guidance and support for incident management and problem solving to ensure customer satisfaction.
  7. Collaborate to identify, address, and mitigate security risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and administering systems and applications, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 3+ years' experience managing and administering applications in a DevOps pipeline within a SLES environment, including configuration, installation, upgrades, and patching.
  • Experience with scripting and automating routine processes.
  • Understanding of VMWare, NAS, and SAN Storage Solutions.
Desired Skills
  • Windows Server System Admin experience with 2012 and 2016.
  • Experience with Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.
  • Familiarity with Citrix Web Interface (StoreFront).
  • Experience publishing Citrix applications (Seamless/Non Seamless).
  • Knowledge of Citrix performance, scalability, and tuning.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Splunk.
Additional Requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills handling multiple priorities.
  • Minimum internet speed of 50x25 Mbps.
  • A dedicated, interruption-free workspace for handling sensitive federal information.
  • Ability to pass background screening.
  • US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with at least 3 years of continuous US presence.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
