Job summary

IPSecure is seeking a UNIX Engineer III to design, implement, and sustain enterprise UNIX/Linux environments supporting the DoD’s Defensive Cyberspace Operations.

The role requires TS/SCI clearance, a strong background in Linux, automation, and security compliance, and is based at JBSA Lackland, San Antonio, TX. You will optimize, automate, and secure mission-critical systems for 24x7 cyber operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of enterprise UNIX/Linux engineering experience.
• DoD/Federal or large enterprise environment experience preferred.
• Hands-on with RHEL/Oracle Linux, Bash, Python, Ansible, LVM, NFS, LDAP, SSH, VMware integration, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise UNIX and Linux server environments.
• Engineer highly available Linux platforms for mission-critical apps.
• Deploy OS upgrades, migrations, and refresh initiatives.
• Integrate UNIX/Linux with virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud.
• Administer systems across multiple security enclaves.
• Manage authentication, filesystems, storage and resources.

UNIX Engineer III – TS/SCI Clearance Required – JBSA Lackland - San Antonio, TX

Job Description

The UNIX Engineer III serves as the senior UNIX/Linux infrastructure engineer responsible for the design, implementation, administration, sustainment, and modernization of enterprise UNIX and Linux environments supporting the Department of the Air Force's Defensive Cyberspace Operations Weapon Systems. The position ensures secure, resilient, andhighly availableenterprise infrastructure supporting 24x7 cyber operations whilemaintainingcompliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, RMF, and DISA STIGs.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, andmaintainenterprise UNIX and Linux server environments.
• Engineerhighly availableLinux platforms supporting mission-critical applications.
• Perform operating system deployments, upgrades, migrations, and technologyrefreshinitiatives.
• Integrate UNIX/Linux systems with virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud environments.
• Administer enterprise Linux and UNIX operating systems across multiple security enclaves.
• Manage authentication, file systems, storage, and system resources.
• Monitor system health, capacity, and performance.
• Support enterprise backup and disaster recovery.
• Support RMF, A&A, vulnerability remediation, POA&M activities, and audit readiness
• Develop automation using Bash, Python, and Ansible.
• Support Infrastructure-as-Code, Checklist-as-Code, and modernization initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.Additionalexperience may substitute for education.

Certification: CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, GCIA, GCED, GCIH, or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) (or equivalent enterprise UNIX/Linux certification).

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of enterprise UNIX/Linux engineering experience.
• Experience supporting DoD, Federal, or large enterprise environments.
• Experience with RHEL, Oracle Linux, Bash, Python, Ansible, LVM, NFS, LDAP, SSH, VMware integration, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience engineering and sustaining UNIX/Linux infrastructure supporting Department of the Air Force DCO weapon systems, DAFIN-SOC environments, or comparable 24x7 mission operations.
• Advanced expertise with RHEL and Oracle Linux, including high-availability architectures, VMware integration, LVM, NFS, LDAP, SSH, enterprise backup and recovery, and performance optimization.
• Demonstrated experience automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and security compliance using Ansible, Bash, Python, Infrastructure-as-Code, and Checklist-as-Code methodologies.
