Job summary

Worcester State University seeks a visionary Chief of University Police/Director of Public Safety to lead a modern, community-oriented department and to safeguard a welcoming campus environment. You will direct law enforcement, emergency response, crime prevention, and safety operations with a focus on equity-driven policing approaches.

You will manage 15 sworn officers and staff, ensure compliance with POST and federal higher-education regulations, and drive safety initiatives in collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of police experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Must pass POST certification and MA requirements for full-time officers.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a community-oriented police department with a focus on equity and transparency.
• Develop campus safety plans and coordinate with senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with POST, Clery Act, Title IX, and related regulations.
• Oversee budgeting, staffing, and performance metrics for public safety.
• Collaborate with university departments and external agencies on safety initiatives.
