Job summary

Triton College seeks a strategic Chief of Police to lead all campus safety operations, protect students, staff, and visitors, and foster a climate of trust, accountability, and community service. The role requires extensive public safety leadership within higher education and a commitment to compliance with laws and regulations.

The Chief oversees budgeting, personnel, training, investigations, and collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, while maintaining readiness for emergencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years patrol experience, 5 years supervisory experience, and 5 years administration experience.
• Knowledge of campus law enforcement, Clery Act, FERPA and emergency response coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee internal investigations.
• Enforce laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations; including Board Policies.
• Plan and conduct periodic emergency training exercises for staff and students.
• Prepare and manage the police department budget.
• Develop security and crime prevention systems for the institution.
• Liaise with local, county, state, and federal agencies; enhance public access.
• Serve on college committees and be on-call for campus safety issues.
• Develop and update college-wide emergency plans in collaboration with key partners.
