The University of North Georgia seeks an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal counsel, analysis, and advice on a broad range of matters affecting the university. This position supports the General Counsel across legal, regulatory, transactional, and governance areas, working with university stakeholders to mitigate risk.

Housed on the Dahlonega or Gainesville campus with periodic travel, the role includes advising on contracts, compliance, investigations, and policy development.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school required.
• Membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia required.
• Requires at least three years of progressively responsible legal experience.
• Experience in higher education, government, or public sector law is strongly preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide legal counsel and practical advice to university administrators, departments, and institutional clients on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and governance matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, transactions, procurement matters, and related business arrangements.
• Provide analytical support on compliance, risk management, investigations, audits, and records obligations.
• Support litigation, open records matters, subpoenas, and dispute resolution as needed.
• Advise on policy development, governance, training, and institutional initiatives.
