Universität Wien sucht eine/n Universitätsassistent/in praedoc in der Fakultät für Psychologie. Sie arbeiten an der Differentialpsychologie, führen empirische Studien durch, publizieren Ergebnisse und unterstützen die Lehre innerhalb des Forschungsbereichs.

Das Projekt bietet eine strukturierte Doktoratsförderung, internationale Kooperationen und vielfältige Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten, inklusive Mitwirkung an internationalen Tagungen und Forschungskooperationen.

Qualifications

  • Abgeschlossenes Studium der Psychologie (Bachelor/Master oder Diplom).
  • Starke Forschungsinteressen in Differentialpsychologie und Diagnostik.
  • Erfahrung in Planung, Durchführung und statistischer Analyse empirischer Studien.
  • Kenntnisse in statistischen Analyseprogrammen (JASP, R).
  • Gute Kenntnisse quantitativer Analysemethoden.
  • Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse.
  • Teamfähigkeit, Organisationstalent und Eigeninitiative.
  • Motivation zum Lehren und zur wissenschaftlichen Lehre.

Responsibilities

  • Designen und Durchführen empirischer Studien.
  • Veröffentlichung von Forschungsergebnissen in internationalen Fachzeitschriften.
  • Unterschrift einer Doktorandentheorievereinbarung innerhalb von 12–18 Monaten.
  • Teilnahme an Lehre und eigenständiger Durchführung von Kursen gemäß Kollektivvereinbarung.
  • Beschaffung von Drittmitteln.
  • Mitwirkung bei Organisation von Meetings, Konferenzen, Tagungen.
  • Betreuung von Studierenden.

The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna comprises four Departments as well as the Psychological Outpatient Unit. The Differential Psychology and Psychological Assessment Unit is a part of the Department for Developmental and Educational Psychology.

Research topics of the Unit focus particularly on (i) cognitive abilities, their bases, correlates, and (intra- and interindividual) changes over time, (ii) the development, application, and evaluation of psychological test (esp. objective personality tests), as well as (iii) the validity of empirical study effects. Our methodological approaches include quantitative analyses of cross-sectional and longitudinal data, research syntheses-based approaches (especially meta-analyses), as well as IRT-based (experimental) methods. We offer excellent work opportunities that are expected to lead to the completion of a doctorate, a motivated and experienced team, as well as international collaborations and intensive promotion of young scientists.

Areas Of Work

Participation in research, teaching and administration:

  • Designing and conducting empirical studies
  • Publication of research results in international scientific journals
  • We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months
  • Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreemen
  • Participation in acquiring third party funding
  • Involvement in the organization of and participation at meetings, conferences, symposiums
  • Supervision of students

Profile

This is part of your personality:

  • Degree qualified in psychology (Bachelor and Master or Diploma studies)
  • Strong research interests in the area of differential psychology and psychological diagnostics, especially in the research focus of the unit (e.g., intelligence, giftedness)
  • Experience in planning, conducting, and statistical analysis of empirical studies
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical data analysis programs (desired: JASP, R) and motivation to further develop these competences.
  • Good knowledge of quantitative analysis methods and motivation for extending this knowledge
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German and English
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong commitment, personal initiative, and independence
  • Motivation for participating in academic teaching

Desirable Qualifications Are

  • Initial experiences with the scientific research process
  • Initial teaching experiences
  • Experience in applied psychological test construction
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Experiences abroad
