Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a Universal/Multi-skilled Operator to safely operate a variety of large machinery, including dozers, cranes, excavators, and motor graders across projects. This role requires attention to safety, accuracy in documentation, and proactive collaboration with supervision to meet timelines.

Responsibilities include pre/post-operation inspections, material handling, and training others as needed, with a focus on efficient, compliant project execution and maintenance

Responsibilities

• Operate a range of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, and more as project needs.
• Perform thorough pre- and post-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks.
• Maintain accurate logs of materials loaded/unloaded and job activities.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and wear PPE as required.
• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and team members to meet project timelines.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues promptly to the maintenance team.
• May direct and train others to operate and maintain equipment as required.
• Handle materials carefully to minimize spills, waste, or damage to equipment and sites.
• Support project execution by following production plans and supervisor guidance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About The Job: The Universal/Multi-skilled Operator is responsible for safely and proficiently operating a variety of large, heavy machinery such as Dozers, Cranes, Excavators, and Motor Graders. This versatile role requires expertise in handling various equipment types, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

What You’ll Do:

1. Equipment Operation

• Operate a range of heavy machinery, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, etc. depending on project requirements.
• Ensure the safe operation of the equipment and perform routine equipment maintenance checks.

2. Material Handling

• Follow instructions provided by supervisors or production plans to meet desired operational goals.
• Handle materials with care to prevent spills, waste, or damage to equipment and surrounding infrastructure.

3. Safety and Compliance

• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain awareness of surroundings, equipment, and personnel to prevent accidents or hazards.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.

4. Project Support

• Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to execute tasks according to project specifications.
• Ensure the efficient use of equipment to meet project timelines.

5. Problem Solving

• Identify and address issues or challenges during equipment operation, troubleshooting as needed.

6. Communication

• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

7. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance

• Perform thorough pre and post operation checks of the dragline to identify safety or mechanical defects.
• Report any maintenance needs or equipment issues to the maintenance department.

8. Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of materials loaded and unloaded.
• Complete log sheets, work orders, and other documentation as required.

9. May direct and train others to operate and maintain equipment as required.
