Job Description for Universal Banker at Stellar Bank

This position involves providing exceptional customer service by answering customer inquiries, explaining bank services, cross-selling products, and assisting with account opening procedures. The Universal Banker acts as a primary point of contact for both new and existing customers, ensuring their banking needs are met efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Promote and cross-sell bank products and services to meet customer financial needs.
2. Handle safe deposit duties, including opening accounts, controlling access, and accepting rental payments.
3. Manage stop payment requests, check recorders, and wire transfer requests.
4. Decide on new account openings, complete related forms, and process initial deposits.
5. Review reports and maintain accuracy in work.
6. Follow policies, complete tasks timely, and assist the Office Manager as needed.
7. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with bank policies.
8. Answer phones, direct callers, and refer customers to appropriate departments.
9. Accept deposits, cash checks, withdrawals, and make cash advances following proper procedures.
10. Assist with night depository duties, vault operations, and balancing cash.
11. Process loan, installment, and collection payments.
12. Balance cash drawer daily and maintain account exception records.
13. Adhere to BSA/AML/CFT and sanctions policies, completing required training.

Secondary Duties

Perform additional duties assigned by management, specific to the position.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not supervise staff but involves providing leadership, training, and support to less experienced team members.

Work Environment and Physical Activity

The role is primarily in a non-confined office setting, requiring movement, writing, speaking, listening, lifting up to 25 pounds, and operating office equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; 2-3+ years of related experience in a financial institution.
• Knowledge of banking compliance regulations and operational policies.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and intermediate typing skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle currency and negotiable instruments efficiently.
• Effective communication, time management, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to follow procedures, write correspondence, and work independently.
