Description

As the Universal Banker you will perform Client Service Representative, Teller and administrative functions as needed in a branch setting. Greets, assists, and directs clients in a prompt courteous manner via telephone and in-person. Opens and maintains customer accounts and performs related account maintenance. Processes client transactions, maintains and balances a cash drawer and/or vault and identifies the needs of clients while cross-selling appropriate Bank products and services. Understands and completes job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions:

Client Relations 65%

  • Greets clients, offers assistance, and directs to appropriate department
  • Opens and maintains retail deposit accounts
  • Suggests products and services that best meet clients’ needs
  • Preforms debit card and internet banking maintenance
  • Assists clients with basic service requests for retail banking products
  • Refers clients to proper co-workers for other banking assistance

Teller Operations 25%

  • Assists clients in person and on the phone while following the Banks service standards
  • Processes client transactions
  • Maintains and balances cash drawer and/or vault on a daily basis
  • Performs opening and/or closing procedures for the bank

Additional Duties and Responsibilities 10%

  • Provides access to safe deposit boxes
  • Assist other departments as needed
  • Attends required department meetings
  • Other job related duties necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position
  • Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required

Requirements

Work Relationships and Scope:

Works regularly with clients and co-workers for the purpose of obtaining and providing information and assistance. Works occasionally with suppliers and vendors, community/trade/professional affiliations. Works regularly with confidential business and client information. Occasionally participates in bank committees and events.

Participates in training and appropriate professional development. Multi-tasks and effectively manages varying duties throughout the workday. Stays current in field and utilizes that information where practical; participates in training and appropriate professional development. Utilizes knowledge of Bank products and services to effectively cross-sell.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High school diploma required. Two-year degree in business related coursework preferred. Previous cash handling experience required. Minimum one year customer service experience required. One year of previous banking experience preferred. Must possess courteous and professional customer service attitude; excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting professionally with clients (both pleasant and difficult situations) and relating to other co-workers; ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential client and Bank information. Must possess computer functioning and typing skills; basic mathematical skills up to and including fractions; legible handwriting. Must be able to deal effectively with time pressures and stress that can change hourly depending on level of client activity; effective problem solving skills; effective cross selling skills. Must be a self-starter and independent thinker and meet goals as outlined by the manager.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed largely in an office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Regular contact with clients and co-workers. Occasional out-of-town travel is required for business and education. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage required. Frequent use of telephone. Frequent repetitive use of keyboard for approximately 6 hours per day; frequent repetitive fingering and grasping of papers. Receive and provide detailed information through verbal communication. Requires near-, mid-range, and far vision. Will alternate sitting, standing, and walking throughout work shift. Bend, stoop, turn, lift and carry up to 25 pounds in documents and office supplies. Climb stairs. Work is performed generally during regular business hours with minimal expectations of overtime, including a Saturday rotation.
