The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery Research, is actively recruiting for a Staff Scientist I.

Job Duties:

1. 30% - Develop anesthetic and surgical skills related to murine cardiovascular surgery, perform aortic aneurysm inductions, maintain murine husbandry, and track animal strains.
2. 20% - Maintain tissue culture laboratory inventory, perform experiments, and analyze data.
3. 20% - Assess murine physiology using ultrasound, BP monitoring, and other techniques, maintaining related inventory and data.
4. 20% - Conduct biochemical techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and multiplex assays.
5. 10% - Collect and process biological samples; assist with other research duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: The role involves physical activities such as lifting, bending, reaching, and working in various environments. Specific requirements include ability to lift 30 lbs, work in cold temperatures, and perform repetitive motions. The role may require working alone in isolated areas and obtaining/maintaining a valid driver’s license. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, overtime, and learn new processes is also necessary.
