Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician/Unit Technician to support patient care under RN supervision, assist in care management, reinforce education, and maintain a safe, recovery-focused environment. You will monitor patients, assist with ADLs, record vitals, prepare records, assist with labs, and collaborate with the care team.

A high school diploma is required with 3–6 months in patient services; CPI and BLS certifications must be completed within stated

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–6 months of experience in a customer service/patient service environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • CPI certification within 120 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 120 days of hire/transfer date.
  • Preferred: post-high school medical assistant training.
  • Preferred: experience obtaining vital signs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients and the environment, document observations, and maintain a safe unit.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide comfort and support.
  • Take and document patient vital signs, height, and weight as directed.
  • Prepare medical records, collect specimens, and assist with laboratory processes.
  • Support the multidisciplinary team in developing patient treatment plans.
  • Maintain supplies and ensure compliance with infection control and safety policies.

As a Behavioral Health Technician/Unit Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). You will assist in implementing care management, reinforcing patient education, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients. What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-6 months of previous work experience in a customer service and/or patient service environment.
  • Valid Driver's License obtained prior to hire date.
  • CPI certification within 120 days of employment and maintain current certification thereafter.
  • Basic Life Support Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 120 days of hire/transfer date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post high school training as a medical assistant or equivalent.
  • Previous training and/or experience in obtaining vital signs.
