Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ is seeking a Unit Secretary for full-time day-around coverage from 3PM to 11PM, including weekday and weekend shifts. The role supports patient care with transcription, messages, and transport coordination in a busy inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills
• Minimum 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting
• High School graduate or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units including transcription of orders and arranging for transportation and tests
• Answer phones and deliver messages by phone or verbally
• Maintain communication with Charge Nurse/House Supervisor
• Handle paperwork in a timely manner
• Order supplies from Materials Management
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts
• Arrange transport of patients for tests not offered in the hospital
