Abrazo West Campus hospital is seeking a patient unit clerk to provide clerical and reception duties at nursing stations. You will maintain patient records, transcribe orders, and assist in admission coordination to promote an organized unit.

Responsibilities include greeting patients and visitors, routing calls and mail, and ensuring timely communication of urgent results. A High School Diploma or GED is required, CPR is preferred, and hospital experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use phone and fax.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

• Transcribe and input physicians orders and patient information timely and accurately.
• Notify nurse of orders needing immediate attention and of stat/abnormal/diagnostic results.
• Screen and deliver phone and mail; greet and direct patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
• Assess and prioritize a rapidly changing workload; complete work in a timely manner; maintain a tidy work area.

Provides support to hospital patient/care units. Attends nursing stations and performs clerical and reception duties and other services as directed. Provides clerical and unit support functions to promote an organized, efficient and smooth functioning unit.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the patient records
• Assists in the admission coordination of the patient.
• Transcribes and inputs physicians orders and patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
• Notifies nurse of orders requiring immediate attention and of stat, abnormal and diagnostic test results when completed.
• Screens and delivers phone and mail to appropriate individual. Greets and directs patients, visitors, physicians and employees upon arrival to department. Communicates issues or concerns to appropriate individual.
• Assesses and priorities a rapidly changing workload. Completes work in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
• Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Special Skills:
  • Basic computer skills and able to use phone and fax.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience: One year experience in a hospital setting.
  • Certification/Registration: CPR
