Overview
General Summary
Acts as a receptionist for visitors and serves as a central contact for telephone calls and communication, including laboratory and test results. Interacts daily with visitors, patients, physicians, and staff, maintaining a positive attitude. Demonstrates ability to transcribe physician orders accurately, create and maintain medical records, schedule patient care, and handle electronic data entry and retrieval. Provides clinical support by performing duties related to patient care, such as taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and replenishing supplies. May perform special duties like EKGs and Point-of-Care testing.
Job Details
Part-Time (48 hours biweekly)
Day shift from 05:45 to 18:15
Responsibilities
- Provide basic nursing and personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and repositioning patients.
- Assist in transporting patients for tests and procedures.
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes.
- Ensure rooms and supplies are stocked appropriately.
- Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; orient patients to their rooms.
- Answer phones and inquiries, maintain confidentiality.
- Enter and retrieve data using various computer applications related to patient management.
- Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Transcribe orders and document in records, follow up on orders, and ensure signatures are obtained.
- Coordinate scheduling of tests and procedures with clinical staff.
- Communicate patient condition changes and urgent information to nurses.
- Order and restock supplies regularly.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Less than 1 year relevant experience required.
- Basic Life Support certification upon hire required.
- Certified Nurse Aide preferred.
- Completion of medical terminology and unit secretary courses preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Windows-based applications.
Physical and Work Environment
- Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting, lifting, and reaching.
- Exposure to occupational hazards and bloodborne pathogens.
