Job Summary

Under supervision, the Unit Secretary performs secretarial duties and coordinates unit procedures to ensure efficient operation and quality patient care. Responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling, maintaining records, coordinating discharges, transfers, admissions, and supporting the healthcare team in providing patient-centered care.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain a safe environment and respond to safety issues.
  • Ensure patient and family needs are met with professionalism and compassion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect cultural diversity.
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and unit needs efficiently.
  • Handle communication, documentation, and logistical coordination for patient care and unit operations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.

Experience: 1-2 years in medical or customer service setting preferred; knowledge of medical terminology and Microsoft Office is desirable.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work under stress; flexibility; team-oriented attitude.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, lift up to 20-35 lbs, and perform essential physical tasks as detailed.

Work Details

Location: 1153 Centre Street; Schedule: 32 hours/week, rotating shifts; Onsite position.
