Job summary

Encompass Health is accepting applications for a Unit Secretary to support a nursing unit in a community‑focused environment. You will provide vital clerical support, maintain medical records, transcribe orders, and assist patients, families, and staff to ensure efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing) and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using an appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately/transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize safe patient care delivery.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
