Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit, ensuring accurate medical records and smooth patient flow. You will serve patients, families, staff and visitors, and coordinate orders and communications across disciplines in a dynamic inpatient setting.

The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, order transcription, and efficient unit operations, contributing to safe patient care and a supportive hospital environment.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program and familiarity with medical terminology; experience reading and transcribing medical orders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records with proper labeling.
• Transcribe medical orders accurately and distribute to relevant disciplines.
• Serve as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff and visitors.
• Coordinate unit operations to support safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments, and transportation as needed.
• Act as a liaison and direct inquiries to the appropriate person.
