  • Performs additional clerical functions and related duties as appropriate to the unit assigned, including but not limited to filing, photocopying, maintaining patient logs, generating reports, maintaining unit records and miscellaneous general office duties.
  • Answers the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Responsible for the initiation of contact with outside healthcare agencies, to include provider consults, record retrieval, and general information collection.
  • Receives, greets and directs patients, physicians, visitors, and Medical Center personnel, and provides accurate responses in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner.
  • Assists in the transportation of patients and/or patient records as needed.
  • Maintains confidential environment when communicating patient information; promptly reports priority patient information to appropriate caregiver.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies inventory on the unit.

Education And ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalency required. Previous hospital experience in a clerical or technical position preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. At Manager’s Discretion: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
