Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an Emergency Department Unit Secretary at Bloomington Hospital to provide essential administrative and communications support in a fast-paced Level III Trauma Center. The role acts as the central hub for physicians, nurses, EMS, patients and visitors, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include handling calls, coordinating with care teams and departments, managing patient records, and responding to activations and alerts

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant/Medical Secretary classes or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Must be able to complete required training program.

Job Description:

The Emergency Department Unit Secretary provides administrative and communication support to ensure safe, efficient patient care in a fast-paced Level III Trauma Center. This role serves as a central communication hub for the department, supporting physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, EMS, patients, and visitors while maintaining accurate documentation and facilitating patient flow.
