Meritus Health Inc. is seeking a Unit Nutrition Assistant to support our Nutrition Services team in delivering high-quality patient meals. You will ensure accurate meal selections, safe food handling, and excellent service while coordinating with dietitians and foodservice staff.

The role involves processing diet orders, collecting patient preferences, delivering trays, and handling phones professionally in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Prior food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–2 years of food service experience preferred, especially with modified diets and direct customer service.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, evaluate, and process diet orders/messages and communicate updates to Nutrition Services and Nursing staff.
• Collect patient meal selections via in-person visits or phone calls, ensuring diet orders and patient preferences.
• Process meal tickets/tally sheets and deliver trays to patients according to schedule.
• Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Operate CBORD and Bedside menu entry systems accurately.
• Practice safe food handling, storage, and infection control per HACCP, TJC, and MD Dept. of Health.

Meritus Health is seeking a Unit Nutrition Assistant to join our Nutrition Services team. In this role, you will help deliver high-quality food service to patients by ensuring accurate meal selections, safe food handling, and excellent customer service. You will serve as a liaison between patients, dietitians, and foodservice staff to promote optimal nutrition care and maximize patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Retrieve, evaluate, and process diet orders/messages and communicate updates to Nutrition Services and Nursing staff.
• Collect patient meal selections via in-person visits or phone calls, ensuring compliance with diet orders and patient preferences.
• Process meal tickets/tally sheets and deliver trays to patients according to schedule.
• Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Operate CBORD and Bedside menu entry systems accurately.
• Practice safe food handling, storage, and infection control in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards (HACCP, TJC, MD Dept. of Health).

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 1–2 years of food service experience preferred, particularly with modified diets and direct customer service. Clerical/typing ability preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Patient-focused and service-oriented.
