Job summary

Meritus Health Inc is seeking an Unit Nutrition Assistant to support Nutrition Services by ensuring accurate patient meal selections, safe food handling, and exceptional service. You will assist with diet orders, communicate updates, and help deliver meals to patients on schedule.

Collaborating with dietitians and foodservice staff, you will promote optimal nutrition care and patient satisfaction while maintaining high sanitation standards and complying with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 1-2 years of food service experience preferred, particularly with modified diets and direct customer service.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, evaluate, and process diet orders/messages and communicate updates to Nutrition Services and Nursing staff.
• Collect patient meal selections via in-person visits or phone calls, ensuring compliance with diet orders and patient preferences.
• Process meal tickets/tally sheets and deliver trays to patients according to schedule.
• Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Operate CBORD and Bedside menu entry systems accurately.
• Practice safe food handling, storage, and infection control in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards (HACCP, TJC, MD Dept. of Health).
