Job summary

Piedmont Airlines is seeking a Unit Manager, Station Training for our Ground Handling Department in Washington, DC. You will train station staff, conduct airport familiarization, and demonstrate equipment use across shifts, including nights and weekends.

The role requires airline supervisory experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with all management levels. Initial training is provided, with opportunities to advance within a growing aviation team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on training for de-icing follow-up after training events to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with delivery and storage of station supplies.
  • Provide support when special events are scheduled.

To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable leader to join our team as a Unit Manager, Station Training in our Ground Handling Department. The Unit Manager, Station Training will utilize their two years or more of airline supervisory experience and outstanding organizational skills to provide quality, on-the-job training to both new and current station team members. Additionally, this position will provide airport familiarization and demonstrations of proper use for all equipment and vehicles to new hire team members. The successful candidate will feel confident working across all levels of management. This position reports to the Department Manager, Team Member Services.

Essential Duties
  • Provide quality on-the-job training for our new employees and continuous learning for our employees in the station
  • Conduct airport familiarization for new hire employees
  • Demonstrate proper use of all equipment and vehicles
  • Provide hands-on training for de-icing follow-up after all training events to ensure compliance
  • Assist with delivery and storage of station supplies

Job Qualifications And Competencies
  • Two (2) years of airline supervisory experience, preferably all functions (ticketing, gate, ramp)
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently, set and meet individual deadlines
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and support staff
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced instructor or public speaker
  • Extensive knowledge of QIK, Sabre software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Education, or related field
Work Environment
  • Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment
  • Airport ramp environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels
  • Available to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, lifting, climbing up and down stairs
  • Handle objects up to 70 pounds
  • Assist passengers with disabilities, including, but not limited to, pushing wheelchairs

Employment is contingent upon a valid driver’s license and clear driving record, 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and drug screen as required. We also require proof of high school or GED completion. Minimum 18 years of age.

Starting Rate

$55,000.00/Annual Salary
